Santos Triumphs in Copa Sudamericana with Neymar and Gabigol
Santos walked straight into trouble at Vila Belmiro and somehow walked out with an advantage.

Santos stayed on top, created more, and controlled the rhythm. They leave Vila as deserved winners, but with only a slim cushion to protect.
The tie, the table, and what comes next
The second leg is set for next Thursday at Estadio Bellavista. Santos travel with a 2-1 advantage and the safety net of a draw.
Macará’s task is clear: win by at least two goals to go through in regular time. A one-goal victory would drag the tie to penalties and strip away everything Santos built under the Vila lights.
Waiting in the quarterfinals will be Atlético or Red Bull Bragantino. Galo hold a 1-0 lead from the first leg in Bragança, adding another layer of intrigue to a bracket that already feels tight.
Before any of that, Peixe have to look inward again. The Brasileirão looms, and the table doesn’t lie: Santos are the side currently opening the relegation zone. On Sunday they go to São Januário to face 18th-placed Vasco in a match that feels bigger than its early-season billing.
