Manchester United's Leny Yoro Earns First Senior France Call-Up After Konaté Withdrawal
Leny Yoro, the 20-year-old centre-back from Manchester United, has been unexpectedly called up to the senior France national team. The French Football Federation confirmed that manager Zinédine Zidane included Yoro at the last minute, replacing Real Madrid defender Ibrahima Konaté, who withdrew due to a minor sprain in his right knee.
Previously playing for Lille OSC, Yoro had already been training at France's Clairefontaine camp as part of the under-21 squad under coach Gérald Baticle. Now, he gets a chance to prove himself in the senior team during the upcoming Nations League matches against Turkey, Belgium, and Italy.
New Faces in Zidane’s Squad
Yoro becomes the seventh player to receive a first senior call-up from Zidane. Others who joined the national team for the first time include Guillaume Restes, Jean Butez, Andy Diouf, Jérémy Jacquet, Lucas Da Cunha, and Estéban Lepaul. This fresh wave reflects Zidane's approach to integrating young talent into the squad.
