Ross Stewart Faces Injury Setback at Swansea City

Ross Stewart is set for a frustrating spell on the sidelines, with Swansea City expecting the Scotland striker to miss their next four matches because of a quad injury.

The 30-year-old, who arrived last month on a three-year deal and was billed as a key attacking addition, has barely featured. His only appearance so far came as a substitute in the goalless draw with Sheffield United 11 days ago. Since then, his stop-start start in south Wales has stalled completely.

Stewart sat out Swansea’s Championship win at Derby County last Saturday and was again absent for Tuesday’s victory over Watford. The medical update brings little relief for Swansea supporters hoping to see their new forward lead the line.

Upcoming Matches

The club now anticipate he will also miss Saturday’s home game against Wrexham, the trip to former club Southampton next Tuesday, and further fixtures against Burnley and Lincoln City before the international break at the end of the month.

“Ross had a soft tissue injury, not massive, but probably he can return in the international break,” said head coach Vitor Matos.

Swansea will hope that prediction holds. A clean bill of health after the break would finally give Stewart the chance to turn promise on paper into goals on the pitch.
