Federico Valverde, the captain, continues to thunder through games in midfield. His engine, his timing, his willingness to do the ugly work – all of it underpins Madrid’s structure. Alongside him, Arda Güler is growing into the season, offering craft and angles that keep defences guessing.
Mbappé question answered
There is no mystery around Kylian Mbappé. The 27-year-old is fully fit, training with the group, and set to feature against Málaga. His last league outing was a reminder of why the Bernabéu fought so hard to bring him here: a ruthless, spectacular hat-trick and a constant stream of panic in the opposition back line.
Every time he received the ball, Real Sociedad’s defenders backed off. Every time he turned, space opened. He did not just score; he bent the game to his will.
The connection with Jude Bellingham and Vinícius Júnior is starting to click under Mourinho. Early signs suggest a front line that can overwhelm teams in different ways – Mbappé’s explosive runs, Vinícius’ dribbling chaos, Bellingham’s late surges and presence between the lines. The understanding is still developing, but the trajectory is clear. If that triangle catches fire, LaLiga will feel it.
Third straight win in sight
Real Madrid step into this fixture chasing a third consecutive league victory and the chance to set an early tone in the title race. They have not faced Málaga since 2018, a gap that underlines how much the landscape has shifted for both clubs.
For Los Blanquiazules, the return to the Bernabéu comes with weight. They are yet to win this season and must now travel into one of the most unforgiving arenas in Europe. Away from home, against a side stacked with quality and confidence, the margin for error is tiny.
Málaga will fight, but the reality is stark: on paper, Madrid’s squad is stronger in almost every department. With Mbappé in full flow, Silva finally sharp, and Valverde driving the engine room, Mourinho’s team are clear favourites to extend their perfect start.
