Rangers Fans Banned After Old Firm Disorder

Two Rangers supporters have been hit with five-year bans from every football ground in the UK after ugly scenes marred an Old Firm Scottish Cup quarter-final in March.

The pair were caught on separate pieces of footage as disorder flared at the end of the tie, turning a high-stakes Glasgow derby into a security operation as police and stewards moved to protect supporters, including children and disabled fans.

Mackenzie Graham, 21, from Glasgow, was filmed vaulting a fence and charging onto the pitch, appearing to lead a group of fans in an invasion. He repeatedly urged others to follow him over the barrier, dragging the chaos from the stands onto the field.

In the stands, 19-year-old John Smith from Peterhead was seen throwing a bottle into the section housing Celtic supporters. Officers moved in and arrested him amid the turmoil.

The disorder continued as both sets of fans were ushered away from the trouble and out of the stadium. What should have been a tense but controlled conclusion to a classic rivalry instead descended into a scene that will now follow both men for years.

Graham and Smith admitted the charges in court. The punishment is stark: five years away from every football ground in the country, and a sharp reminder of where the line is drawn in one of the game’s fiercest fixtures.
