Hull City Faces Setback as Fortini and David Opt for Serie A
Hull City’s Italian recruitment drive has hit a wall.
Niccolò Fortini has officially joined Torino on loan from Fiorentina, with an option to buy, while Juventus forward Jonathan David has reportedly rejected a move to the MKM Stadium.
Fortini picks Torino over Premier League move
Torino confirmed on Friday that Fortini has arrived on an initial loan from Fiorentina. Italian outlet TMW reports the deal is worth €500,000 for the season, with an option to buy set at €9.5m.
The 20-year-old, a versatile full-back, had also been in talks with Hull City. Italian reports had already indicated last week that he had chosen Torino, and that decision has now been made official.
Before sanctioning the move, Fiorentina moved to protect their asset. Fortini’s contract, previously running to June 2027, was extended to 2030, giving La Viola control over his long-term future while he develops in Turin.
David turns down Hull approach
Hull’s frustration did not end there.
Tuttosport reports that Juventus forward Jonathan David has also turned down an approach from the Premier League club. The Turin-based paper claims the Canada international intends to remain at Juventus rather than pursue a switch to England.
Two targets, two rejections. Hull City will have to look elsewhere, while Torino and Juventus keep hold of players they believe can shape their immediate future.
