Colchester United Signs Moses Sesay on Loan
Colchester United have moved to sharpen their midfield by bringing in Southampton youngster Moses Sesay on a season-long loan.
The 19-year-old, highly regarded at St Mary’s, only arrived in the Saints academy from Chelsea last year but has already caught the eye at international level with England Under-18s. League minutes have yet to come at his parent club, though he did make a brief substitute appearance in last season’s EFL Cup.
That taste of senior football is all Colchester need to see the potential.
"Moses is a very gifted player with the ball. He can really speed up the game," U's boss Danny Cowley told BBC Essex, underlining exactly why he wanted the teenager in his squad.
Cowley knows this is a first loan, a first real step into the grind of league football. He expects there will be an adjustment period, and he is not hiding from that.
"He's been involved with England. It's his first loan, so he's going to need time to adapt, but he's got some really good attributes. We're looking forward to working with him," Cowley added.
For Sesay, the pathway is clear: prove he can turn that academy promise into consistent performances in League Two. For Colchester, it’s a calculated gamble that a hungry, ball-carrying midfielder can change the tempo of their season.
