PSG vs Lille: Luis Enrique's Tactical Changes for First Ligue 1 Win

Paris Saint-Germain head north on Friday night still chasing their first Ligue 1 win of the season, and Luis Enrique is ready to shake the tree.

Held 2-2 at home by Rennes on the opening weekend, PSG arrive in Lille with questions to answer and a starting XI set for a significant facelift. According to L'Équipe, the Spanish coach is preparing four changes as he looks for a sharper, more controlled performance in the second matchweek’s curtain-raiser.

Defensive reshuffle

The back line will look different again. Nuno Mendes is still sidelined through injury and remains unavailable, but the left flank will not stay untouched. Lucas Digne is expected to come in at left-back, taking the place of Lucas Hernández, as Enrique searches for a more natural balance on that side.

On the opposite flank, there is a bold twist. Warren Zaïre-Emery is tipped to start as an unorthodox right-back, replacing Achraf Hakimi. The move would push one of PSG’s brightest midfield talents into a hybrid role, giving Enrique an extra passer and ball-carrier in the first phase of build-up while still covering the width defensively.

Marquinhos and Willian Pacho are set to continue at the heart of defence, with Matvei Safonov again in goal.

Midfield tweak, attack refreshed

The changes do not stop there. In midfield, Lucas Beraldo is expected to come in for Vitinha, adding a different profile alongside João Neves and Fabián Ruiz in the centre of the pitch. The idea is clear: more control, more bite, fewer open doors in transition.

Up front, one of the headline names will step aside. Ousmane Dembélé is set to be rested, opening the door for Ferran Torres to earn his first start for the club. The Spaniard made an instant impact off the bench against Rennes, scoring twice to salvage a point, and now looks in line for a full debut from the opening whistle.

He should be flanked by Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, a trio that offers movement, dribbling and goals – and, crucially, a chance for PSG to turn early-season frustration into momentum.

PSG’s likely XI vs Lille

Matvei Safonov – Warren Zaïre-Emery, Marquinhos, Willian Pacho, Lucas Digne – Lucas Beraldo, João Neves, Fabián Ruiz – Désiré Doué, Ferran Torres, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

A reshaped side, a tricky trip, and a champion still waiting for its first league win. Lille away is no gentle test of a new-look PSG – it is an early measure of how quickly Luis Enrique’s ideas can bite.
