Pressure on Allegri and Tedesco as Napoli host Bologna
The season is barely underway, but the tension is already thick around the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Napoli’s fast start stalls

Three straight defeats across league and Champions League – against Como, Inter and Arsenal – have dragged Napoli down to 12th place and punctured the optimism that followed his appointment. The performances have come in a brutal run of fixtures, but the table does not care. Neither do the fans.

Injury problems and key absences
Alisson Santos will miss out after picking up an injury in that Arsenal clash. Goalkeeper Alex Meret also limped off and will hand the gloves to Vanja Milinkovic-Savic against Bologna.
Scott McTominay remains sidelined until after the international break, so Kevin De Bruyne is expected to keep his place at the heart of midfield. The Belgian should again operate alongside Billy Gilmour and Stanislav Lobotka, with Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa only just back in training and likely to be eased in over the coming weeks.

Bologna still hunting first win
On the other side, Bologna arrive in Naples still searching for their first competitive victory under Tedesco.
There was at least a small step forward last weekend. A 2-2 draw at home to Sassuolo delivered their first point of the season and a reminder of their attacking threat, but it has not been enough to lift them far from danger. The Rossoblu travel south sitting 16th in the table, fully aware that another defeat could deepen the early-season anxiety.
Tedesco will not even be on the touchline. The Bologna coach is suspended for the next two rounds of fixtures, leaving his staff to carry his instructions into one of the most intimidating arenas in Italy.
Squad stretched, options thin
Bologna’s selection problems are real. Nadir Zortea and Artem Dovbyk are both out, and with Tedesco banned, the squad’s margin for error shrinks.
Up front, the choices are even more limited. Roberto Piccoli stands as the only available senior centre-forward, his importance underlined by his goal against Sassuolo at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara earlier this month. If Bologna are to unsettle a wounded Napoli, he will almost certainly have to play a central role again.
