Kylian Mbappé Shines Again in La Liga
Kylian Mbappé needed only one clean touch to turn another La Liga night into his own stage.
On Tuesday evening at Elche, the Real Madrid forward once again separated himself from the rest of the league, striking in the 33rd minute to put Los Blancos two goals to the good in the sixth round of the season.
The move was simple, ruthless, and very Mbappé. Yan Diomande split the Elche back line with a superb pass, and the Frenchman met it in stride, guiding the ball into the net with a single, precise touch. No fuss, no extra touches, just a finish that underlined why he is the most dangerous forward in Spain right now.
Then the mood flipped.
Moments after scoring, Mbappé collided with Elche goalkeeper Matías Dituro and stayed down. The stadium noise dipped as he remained on the turf, team-mates gathering around while Madrid supporters watched in silence. A routine league match suddenly felt like a pivotal moment in Madrid’s season.
He eventually got to his feet and left the pitch for treatment, walking slowly, still under scrutiny from every eye in the ground. On the touchline, Endrick and Carlos Espí began warming up with urgency, a clear sign that Madrid were preparing for the worst-case scenario.
They did not need it.
Mbappé returned quickly, the medical staff’s work easing the tension among the travelling fans. Once back on the pitch he immediately looked for the ball, demanding it, driving at defenders, as if to prove the scare had passed.
A few minutes later he found the net again, finishing another move to underline his dominance. This time, though, the celebration was cut short by the assistant’s flag. The referee ruled the effort out for offside, denying him a brace but not his impact on the night.
The goal that did stand was enough to move him clear at the top of the La Liga scoring charts. Mbappé now sits on 7 league goals, one ahead of Barcelona duo Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.
Six rounds in, the numbers already say it plainly: everyone else is chasing him.
