“Yeah, he is in really good condition at the moment. He is in a good place,” the Arsenal manager said, via Hayters, when asked about Timber’s status before the Chelsea clash. The final call, though, will not be made until after the last training session.

“We will decide tomorrow after training,” he added.

For Timber, that means another wait, another scan of the team sheet, another small test of patience. For Arsenal, it is a delicate balance: the temptation to unleash their first-choice right-back against a major rival against the clear need to make sure that when he comes back now, he stays back.

Chelsea may yet mark the start of that next chapter. Or Arsenal may hold him for one more week, one more game, one more layer of certainty.
