Jim Goodwin will return to the Dundee United dugout this weekend after a three-week medical absence that briefly jolted Tannadice.

The 44-year-old manager was taken to hospital at the end of August with an undisclosed condition and only returned home on 1 September. He has been away from day-to-day duties since, but is now set to step back into the spotlight.

Goodwin will handle pre-match media duties on Friday ahead of United’s Scottish Premiership meeting with St Mirren on Saturday, a significant marker that he is ready to resume full responsibility.

During his spell out, the Irishman watched from a distance. He took in their draw with Falkirk earlier this month from the stands, while assistant Lee Sharp directed operations from the touchline.
