Inter Set to Extend Dominance Over Cagliari in Sardinia
Inter head to the Unipol Domus on Sunday night carrying a heavy weight of history – all of it on Cagliari’s shoulders.
The champions are unbeaten in their last 13 Serie A meetings with the Sardinian side, and Cagliari have gone 20 clashes without a clean sheet against the Nerazzurri. Every recent sign points in the same direction: Inter start fast, Inter score first, Inter win.
Fast starters, dangerous habits
It took Inter only six minutes to crack Monza on the opening weekend. Andy Diouf burst into space, picked out Hakan Çalhanoğlu, and the Turk lashed a right-footed finish into the roof of the net. One move, one ruthless statement from the defending champions.

There is a warning sign for Inter, though. Cagliari hit the post twice in their 1-0 win at Parma and carried a punch on the counter. That gives a sliver of jeopardy to the market, but Inter to win with both teams not scoring – Inter victory and a clean sheet – still stands out at 23/20 with Sky Bet, a 46.51% implied chance.
Esposito’s moment
Francesco Pio Esposito is no longer just the promising youngster on the fringes. He is forcing his way into the conversation.
Against Monza, the 21-year-old opened his account for the season with a clever backheel finish from Diouf’s cross, a striker’s goal full of instinct and confidence. It felt like the product of a player who believes he belongs at this level.
He knows the Unipol Domus net as well. Last season, Esposito scored his first ever Serie A goal in this stadium, steering in Federico Dimarco’s low cross. That memory will not be far from his mind when he steps out again on Sunday.
Chivu trusted him from the start alongside Lautaro Martínez at San Siro, leaving Thuram and Ange-Yoan Bonny on the bench. That selection says plenty about how seriously Inter are taking his development and his current form.

Cagliari’s fight and Inter’s depth
