Eli Junior Kroupi Nominated for Men's Young Talent of the Year

Eli Junior Kroupi’s breakout year has been given global recognition, with the Bournemouth forward shortlisted for the Men's Young Talent of the Year award ahead of the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony.

The 20-year-old is one of three Premier League names on a 10-man list, joined by Manchester City's Ayyoub Bouaddi and Aston Villa's Johan Manzambi. It is elite company for a player who only arrived on the English stage a year ago.

Kroupi made his Bournemouth debut in August 2025 and wasted no time announcing himself. By the end of the 2025-26 campaign he had racked up 35 appearances in all competitions, scoring 13 goals and driving Bournemouth’s attack with a maturity that belied his age.

The numbers told their own story. No teenager had ever scored more goals in their debut Premier League season than Kroupi managed last term. On the south coast, a prospect quickly became a focal point.

This season has brought a harsh pause. A foot injury in pre-season, followed by surgery, has kept him sidelined and delayed his momentum. He has yet to feature in the current campaign, with Bournemouth expecting him back in October or November.

His absence has underlined just how quickly he became central to Bournemouth’s plans. Now, even while he works through his recovery, his name sits on one of football’s most prestigious shortlists.

The Men's Young Talent of the Year award will be among the honours handed out at the 70th Ballon d'Or ceremony in London on Monday, 26 October. For Kroupi, that night could mark the next step in a career that has only just started to accelerate.
