Eli Junior Kroupi Shortlisted for Men's Young Talent of the Year

Eli Junior Kroupi’s rise has been rapid. The next step could be global recognition.

The Bournemouth forward has been shortlisted for the Men's Young Talent of the Year award ahead of the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony, a landmark moment for a player who only made his Cherries debut in August 2025.

At 20, Kroupi stands among elite company. He is one of three Premier League names in a 10-player list, joining Manchester City's Ayyoub Bouaddi and Aston Villa's Johan Manzambi in the race for the award.

Kroupi earned his place the hard way. Last season, his first in English football, he featured 35 times in all competitions for Bournemouth and scored 13 goals, quickly becoming one of the most dangerous young forwards in the league.

The numbers carried weight. By the end of the 2025-26 campaign, he had scored more goals than any other teenager in their debut Premier League season, a statement that cut through in a division stacked with young attacking talent.

Right now, though, his progress is on pause.

Kroupi has yet to play this season after suffering a foot injury in pre-season that required surgery. Bournemouth expect him back in October or November, a timeline that leaves him racing to regain rhythm while the football world discusses his potential on one of its biggest stages.

The Men's Young Talent of the Year prize will be among the honours handed out at the 70th Ballon d'Or ceremony in London on Monday, 26 October — a night when a 20-year-old from Bournemouth could see his breakthrough season etched into the global conversation.
