Camilo Duran Shines with Double in Celtic's 2-1 Victory

Camilo Duran offered Celtic exactly what they needed: goals, energy and a brief escape from European frustration.

Handed the central striking role in place of the injured Kasper Hogh, the Colombian wasted no time justifying the switch. Operating through the middle, where he insists he does his best work, Duran struck twice inside the opening 29 minutes of a 2-1 win over Falkirk and could easily have walked off with the match ball.

Both finishes were classic centre-forward efforts, the kind supporters cling to when confidence elsewhere has taken a dent. Sharp movement, quick reactions, no fuss. Around those goals, he repeatedly linked play and slipped team-mates into promising positions, only to watch a string of first-half chances go begging.

Celtic, dominant before the interval, should have been out of sight. They weren’t.

Second Half

Falkirk came back out with a different attitude and a far higher press, forcing Celtic into mistakes and dragging the game onto more even terms. The visitors pushed up the pitch, disrupted the rhythm and began to turn pressure into territory.

The breakthrough for them came on 72 minutes, and it was a scruffy one from a home perspective. Colby Donovan turned the ball into his own net, a messy moment that suddenly changed the mood inside the ground and handed Falkirk belief.

For a spell, Celtic rocked. Then they reset and drove forward again.

Pinned deeper, Falkirk had to survive wave after wave as Celtic chased the third goal that would not come. Duran remained lively, the home side continued to carve out half-openings, but the earlier ruthlessness deserted them when it mattered most.

The whistle went with the score still 2-1. Not the statement victory Celtic might have wanted after their European setback, but on a day when they needed a response, Duran’s double offered a reminder that they have a striker ready to carry more of the load in the weeks ahead.
