Camavinga on the Market: Mourinho’s Madrid Opens the Door

Jose Mourinho has not wasted time putting his stamp on Real Madrid’s midfield. One major sale is expected this summer, and all roads increasingly point toward Eduardo Camavinga.

At 23, the Frenchman should be entering the phase where promise turns into dominance. Instead, he walks into this window with questions hanging over him after another season in which he never quite imposed himself as expected.

That has not scared anyone off.

A talent under pressure

Camavinga’s campaign was underwhelming by the standards set for him at the Santiago Bernabeu. Competition in Madrid’s midfield is brutal, and he slipped down the pecking order, even finding himself behind Thiago Pitarch at one stage. For a player once viewed as a long-term pillar of the next Real era, that is a stark reality check.

Yet his reputation across Europe remains strong. His age, versatility and high ceiling keep him firmly on the radar of clubs who believe they can unlock the version of Camavinga Madrid have only seen in flashes.

PSG, United, Juventus – the queue forms

PSG were first to push their way to the front of the line, keen to bring Camavinga back to France and build around a domestic core. Now they have company.

Journalist Miguel Serrano reports that Manchester United have entered the race, sounding out Camavinga’s situation and the conditions for a deal. United’s midfield is in the middle of a major rebuild. Casemiro has already gone, Manuel Ugarte is expected to follow, and the club is searching for a new engine room to fit its next cycle.

United have monitored Aurelien Tchouameni, but they are just as attentive to the possibility that Camavinga could be prised away. Italian giants Juventus have also made enquiries, sensing an opportunity if Madrid truly decide to cash in.

The interest is real. So is the price.

Madrid’s stance: open for business

Inside the Bernabeu offices, Camavinga is no longer viewed as ‘untouchable’. Real Madrid are listening.

The club have placed a €60 million valuation on the France international. For a 23-year-old with Champions League experience and years ahead of him, that figure will not frighten the likes of Manchester United, PSG or Juventus. For them, it is the going rate for a midfielder who could anchor their project for the next decade.

There is, however, one complication: the player himself.

Camavinga digs in

Despite his dip in prominence, Camavinga has shown no desire to walk away. He has made it clear he does not want to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

He believes he can fight his way back into Mourinho’s plans, regain his status and prove that the early hype was justified. For a coach like Mourinho, who values resilience and competitive edge, that attitude will not go unnoticed.

Yet the market does not wait for sentiment. Nor does a squad in transition.

A fluid situation with a clear trigger

Right now, everything hinges on Madrid’s next move. The club want to bring in a new midfielder. If they succeed, someone has to go. One big name, one significant fee, to balance both numbers and accounts.

In that scenario, Camavinga looks the most expendable piece. Not because he lacks talent, but because his status has slipped just enough to make a sale palatable, and his age and profile guarantee strong offers.

If Madrid pull the trigger on a new signing, the dominoes fall quickly: United, PSG and Juventus are ready, €60 million is on the table, and Camavinga’s future shifts from determined loyalty to hard business.

The question now is simple: will Mourinho’s Madrid build around Camavinga, or will they cash in and let one of Europe’s other giants turn him into the midfielder he was meant to be?
