Borussia Dortmund Eye Ibrahim Mbaye from PSG
Borussia Dortmund have set their sights on one of Paris Saint-Germain’s brightest young attackers, opening talks over a potential move for Ibrahim Mbaye, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The German club, fresh from another season built on high-tempo football and rapid transitions, have made contact to explore the conditions of a deal for the 18-year-old winger. Dortmund’s recruitment team is understood to have asked about Mbaye’s situation at PSG and what it would take to prise him away from the French champions.
This is exactly the type of profile Dortmund have built a reputation on: young, explosive, and still far from the finished article. Mbaye, just 18, already owns 42 senior appearances for PSG, contributing four goals and four assists. Those numbers are modest on paper, but they come in a squad stacked with attacking talent, where minutes are hard-earned and patience is often a prerequisite.
The interest is not limited to Germany. In England, Aston Villa have been mentioned among the clubs keeping tabs on the teenager. Villa’s recent rise under ambitious ownership and a European push makes them an increasingly attractive destination for emerging talent, and Mbaye’s name has quietly entered that conversation.
The tug-of-war, if it comes, will not be straightforward. Mbaye is tied to PSG until 2028, a contract that hands the French club a strong negotiating position and the luxury of time. They are under no immediate pressure to sell, which means any move would require a compelling offer and a clear pathway for the player.
For Dortmund, the attraction is obvious. An 18-year-old winger with top-level experience, used to the demands of a big club, and with years of development ahead of him fits perfectly into their long-term model. For Mbaye, the question is just as clear: stay and fight for a bigger role in Paris, or jump now to a project that promises more responsibility and a central place in the attack?
The first contact has been made. The next move will show how serious Dortmund and their Premier League rivals are about testing PSG’s resolve over one of their most intriguing young forwards.
