Bayern Munich Faces Fresh Health Scare with Jamal Musiala Before Super Cup

Jamal Musiala has given Bayern Munich another scare just days before the German Super Cup, after feeling unwell for the second friendly in a row.

The 21-year-old midfielder came on around the hour mark in Bayern’s 4-2 friendly win over Heidenheim on Tuesday. Within four minutes, he was on the turf, clearly in distress. Players from both sides immediately formed a protective circle around him as medical staff sprinted on.

The scene was tense. Medics treated Musiala on the pitch, but this time he was able to get back to his feet and leave the field under his own power, offering at least a small measure of reassurance on a worrying night for Bayern.

This was no isolated incident. On Saturday, in the closing stages of the friendly against RB Leipzig, Musiala had already caused alarm when he again felt unwell shortly after coming on. He sat down on the pitch and required assistance from several emergency responders.

Concern spread quickly then as well, with team-mate Ismael Saibari among those visibly worried. After treatment, Musiala eventually walked off without help, to clear relief from the Bayern bench and staff.

Sporting director Max Eberl tried to calm the situation after the Leipzig game, but could offer few details.

“He is doing well now. And that is the most important thing. Beyond that, we cannot say too much about it yet,” Eberl told Sport1.

Musiala has not yet spoken publicly about the two incidents or the cause of his discomfort.

The timing could hardly be worse for Bayern. On Saturday they face Borussia Dortmund in the German Super Cup, a showpiece that usually sets the tone for the season. Now the big question in Munich is not just whether Musiala will play – but how ready he really is.
