Bayern offered only the briefest reassurance in the hours that followed. “The main thing is that he's OK,” the club’s board member for sport said later on Saturday, but stopped there. No diagnosis, no explanation, no timeline. On Sunday, the club still had not issued a formal update on what caused the collapse or how Musiala is doing now.

The game was played in stifling conditions, with temperatures in Munich climbing above 30 degrees Celsius (86 Fahrenheit), and the heat is being viewed as a possible factor.

The Associated Press has requested further information from Bayern as concern grows around one of the club’s most important players.

Musiala only returned to club action at the start of the 2026 Bundesliga season after breaking his leg last summer in Bayern’s Club World Cup match against Paris Saint-Germain. He recovered in time not just to reclaim his place in Munich’s midfield, but to become a central figure for Germany at the 2026 World Cup.
