Barcelona's Negotiations for Hector Fort: Dortmund vs Real Sociedad

Barcelona’s plan to move Hector Fort on is edging towards a decision, but what looked like a clean, simple exit route to Borussia Dortmund has turned into a far more tangled negotiation.

For days, Dortmund seemed to have it wrapped up. They were in front, they had spoken with Barça, and the feeling around the deal was that it was only a matter of time. Then Real Sociedad walked into the room.

Barça draw a hard line on Fort

According to the latest from Matteo Moretto (via FCB World), Dortmund still sit in the strongest position to strike an agreement with Barcelona for the young full-back. They remain the favourites. But the terms are no longer vague.

Barcelona have put their price on the table.

The Catalan club want €20 million for 100% of Fort’s rights. A clean sale, no strings attached.

There is a second path. Barça are also willing to negotiate a partial sale, keeping a stake in Fort’s future. In that scenario, they are asking for between €8 million and €10 million in exchange for 50% of his rights.

Any club that matches one of those formulas can move decisively for the defender. Until then, it is all positioning.

Dortmund in front, but Sociedad change the game

Earlier in the window, Dortmund looked to have a free run at Fort. The Bundesliga side had identified him, moved early and quickly emerged as the most likely destination. Talks advanced, and a deal felt close.

Then the rhythm changed.

Real Sociedad entered late, asking for information on the conditions of Fort’s departure and inserting themselves into the race. Their interest has slowed the process and forced everyone to reassess the numbers.

Barcelona’s valuation has become the crux of it. Initial indications placed Fort at around €10 million, a straightforward figure that suggested a modest fee for a promising young defender.

Moretto’s latest update sharpens that picture. Barça are no longer just talking about a flat valuation; they are outlining the structure they want. A full sale at €20 million, or a shared bet on his future at €8–10 million for half of his rights.

Dortmund still lead. Real Sociedad are now a serious rival. The price is clear. The next move belongs to the clubs willing to pay it.
