Chelsea's Transfer Dilemma: Neto, Mudryk, Leao, and Scott

Chelsea’s attacking plans are being pulled in several directions at once, with big calls looming over Pedro Neto, Mykhailo Mudryk, Rafael Leao and Alex Scott as the transfer window ticks on.

Neto price tag underlines Chelsea stance

Pedro Neto’s future at Stamford Bridge is far from settled. Chelsea are not openly touting him around, but they are ready to listen if the right offer lands on the table.

Al-Hilal are among the clubs circling, with several Premier League sides also monitoring the winger’s situation. Chelsea are understood to be aware of that interest, yet no formal bids have arrived.

The message from the club is clear: Neto is not cheap. The Blues have placed a valuation close to £100million on the Portugal international, a figure that underlines both their reluctance to lose him and the inflation gripping the current market. Anyone wanting him will have to pay at the very top end.

Mudryk loan race heats up

While Neto’s future hinges on a huge fee, Chelsea are weighing up a very different route for Mykhailo Mudryk.

Coventry City are pushing hard to land the winger on loan. According to Teamtalk, Frank Lampard’s side now see themselves as “serious contenders” for his signature, with Chelsea exploring temporary moves to secure him regular minutes after he was cleared to play this season.

Chelsea’s preference is believed to be a Premier League destination, a stance that could actually strengthen Coventry’s hand as they look to put together a compelling proposal. The key point from the club’s side: this is not a permanent goodbye. The report states Mudryk still has a future at Stamford Bridge, even as Chelsea encourage him to go out and play week in, week out this term.

Leao opportunity lands in Chelsea’s lap

On the incoming front, Chelsea have been handed a potential opening to move for AC Milan forward Rafael Leao.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Leao’s representatives have contacted Chelsea over a possible transfer. His camp are said to have spoken to other clubs this summer too, including Roma, as they test the market for the 27-year-old.

The suggested price is eye-catching. An offer in the region of £34million is claimed to be enough to tempt Milan into a sale. Leao, a Portugal international, has been at the Serie A club since joining from Lille in 2019. For a player of his profile and experience, that figure would represent one of the window’s most intriguing opportunities.

Alex Scott interest tied to Enzo Fernandez saga

Midfield planning remains just as complicated. Bournemouth’s Alex Scott is still on Chelsea’s radar, but only if Enzo Fernandez leaves before the deadline.

Chelsea recently issued what amounted to an informal ultimatum to Manchester City: pay £120million for Fernandez by last Friday or walk away. No official bid arrived, yet City’s interest has not completely disappeared.

Scott, though, will not be easy to prise away. Chelsea saw a £64million offer rejected by Bournemouth last month, with the south-coast club adamant the midfielder is not for sale this summer, according to sources close to the situation.

So the picture is layered. Neto carries a nine-figure price tag, Mudryk could go out to grow, Leao’s camp are knocking on the door, and Scott is locked behind Bournemouth’s “not for sale” sign. How Chelsea thread those pieces together will say plenty about what this new-look squad is supposed to become.
