Arsenal Aim for Perfect Start Against Sunderland
Arsenal head to Wearside on Saturday night chasing a flawless opening month in the Premier League and a sixth straight win in all competitions. Sunderland, under the lights and under pressure, are the next side trying to slow Mikel Arteta’s early-season surge.
Fresh from a tight 1-0 victory over Napoli in the Champions League, Arsenal arrive with numbers to match the mood. They boast the division’s lowest expected-goals-against figure so far, a statistical stamp of how hard they have become to break down.
History leans their way too. Arsenal have not lost a Premier League game to Sunderland since 2009, a 17-match unbeaten stretch that underlines the gulf that has grown between the clubs. Their most recent meeting, a 3-0 win for Arsenal back in February, only reinforced that pattern.
Arteta to shuffle a winning pack
