World Cup 2026: Teams Already Eliminated So Far
After the recent round of 32 matches, three more squads faced elimination from World Cup 2026. Spain dominated Austria, while Switzerland outplayed Algeria. But the toughest exit might belong to Croatia, who saw a stoppage-time goal from Portugal seal their fate. An even later equalizer for Croatia was disallowed, adding to their heartbreak.
With 19 teams left in the tournament, the number will drop to 16 by the end of this knockout stage. From there, eight teams will be eliminated in the Round of 16, followed by four in the quarter-finals and two in the semi-finals, leaving just the finalists.
The tournament features 48 teams qualifying from Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Only one will avoid defeat in this knockout format filled with surprises and upsets.
Teams Knocked Out So Far
As of 3 July, 29 teams have been eliminated from the competition. Sixteen teams bowed out after the group stages, narrowing the field to 32 for the knockout rounds.
