Tottenham Signs Martin Dubravka as Goalkeepers Dominate Summer Market

Tottenham have made the first clear move in what is rapidly turning into a goalkeeper-driven summer, confirming the signing of Martin Dubravka on a free transfer.

The former Newcastle and Burnley keeper will arrive in north London when his deal with the Clarets expires at the end of the month, adding proven Premier League experience to Spurs’ squad.

For Dubravka, it is a restart at the sharp end of English football.

"It's an exciting time for me, a new journey and new experience for me and my family," he said. "Everything moved pretty quickly and I'm really happy to be here. I've loved watching Roberto's teams over the years and know all about his style, vision and the fantastic fans here.

"Tottenham Hotspur is one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and I can't wait to meet everyone and get started."

Spurs gain a calm, seasoned presence, a goalkeeper who has seen enough of this league to understand its tempo and its pressure. For a club chasing stability behind an evolving back line, it is a calculated, low-risk addition.

United weigh up new competition in goal

While Tottenham have their man, Manchester United are still working through their options.

According to The Mirror, United are considering moves for Karl Darlow and Sam Johnstone as they look to reinforce the position behind Senne Lammens for next season. Michael Carrick is understood to want another senior option to ensure depth and competition.

The backdrop is clear: Radek Vitek could leave Old Trafford this summer, with all three promoted clubs credited with interest. If that exit materialises, United cannot afford to be light in such a critical position.

Forest eye Brazil prospect Otavio

Nottingham Forest are pushing in a different direction, targeting potential rather than experience.

Globo Esporte report that Cruzeiro’s 20-year-old goalkeeper Otavio has emerged as a serious option, with Forest preparing an official offer. The proposed bid is said to be around £11m, a significant outlay for a young stopper still making his way in Brazil.

Whether that figure tempts Cruzeiro remains uncertain, but Forest’s intent is obvious: secure a long-term solution before the market inflates.

Everton test West Ham’s resolve over Bowen

Away from the goalkeeping carousel, Everton have moved to explore one of the most intriguing attacking opportunities of the window.

Football Insider claim the club have made contact with West Ham over a potential deal for Jarrod Bowen, following the Hammers’ relegation to the Championship. Bowen, a consistent Premier League performer and one of West Ham’s standout players in recent seasons, is expected to attract serious interest.

The winger is said to want to assess offers from different clubs before deciding on his next step. For Everton, the question is whether they can put together a package strong enough to tempt both player and club at a time when West Ham, despite relegation, know exactly how valuable he is.

Villa dig in over Morgan Rogers

If West Ham may be forced into difficult conversations over Bowen, Aston Villa are taking the opposite stance with Morgan Rogers.

Sky Sports report that Villa have told Arsenal and all other suitors that Rogers is not for sale. The playmaker has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain also credited with interest in recent weeks.

Villa’s message is blunt. They see Rogers as central to their plans and are not prepared to cash in, no matter how crowded the list of admirers becomes.

United line up £35m move for Waldemar Anton

At Old Trafford, the rebuild is not confined to the goalkeeping department.

German outlet Ruhr Nachrichten report that Manchester United are preparing a £35m bid for Borussia Dortmund defender Waldemar Anton, with Michael Carrick having given the green light. Anton is currently on international duty with Germany at the World Cup and is under contract with Dortmund until 2028.

United’s pursuit of the defender underlines a clear strategy: reshape the spine of the team with players in their prime, capable of stepping straight into the first XI.

One club banking on experience in goal. Another gambling on youth. Others fighting to keep hold of their creators and match-winners. The window has barely opened, but the lines of this summer’s battles are already being drawn.
