Tijjani Reijnders Negotiations: Manchester City and Al-Qadsiah

Manchester City are locked in advanced negotiations with Al-Qadsiah over the sale of Tijjani Reijnders, with a fee of around €60 million on the table, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The clubs are edging towards an agreement. The player is not.

Reijnders has yet to be fully convinced by the move, leaving the deal at a delicate stage despite the progress between the two sides. The 28-year-old, under contract at the Etihad until 2030, now stands at a crossroads in his career.

Nottingham Forest are lurking. The Premier League side are keen on the Dutch midfielder and are closely tracking developments, ready to pounce if the Saudi switch stalls.

Reijnders only arrived at City last summer from AC Milan for €55 million, after establishing himself as one of the standout performers in Serie A. He carried that form into his early months in England, starting brightly and quickly forcing his way into Pep Guardiola’s plans.

Then the minutes began to dry up. Gradually, Reijnders slipped from guaranteed starter to regular substitute.

Even so, his numbers across last season underline his quality. He logged 2,810 minutes in all competitions for City, scoring seven goals – five of them in the Premier League – and providing eight assists. Solid output, but perhaps not enough to cement an untouchable role in a squad stacked with midfield talent.

Now, with 35 caps for the Netherlands and his prime years ahead of him, he must decide what matters most: staying to fight for his place at a Champions League contender, or accepting a lucrative move that would shift his career onto a very different track.

The Saudi Pro League has already tempted one of his international teammates. Crysencio Summerville made the jump to Al-Hilal after impressing at the World Cup, a move that underlined just how aggressive the league’s recruitment has become.

Reijnders could be next. Or he could choose to stay in the Premier League spotlight, with City or a new project at Forest. The money is on the table. The decision is his.
