Manchester United Targets Aurelien Tchouameni as Midfield Priority Amid Alternative Options

Manchester United continues to seek a third midfielder this summer, following the signings of Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos. Their focus remains on adding a defensive midfield specialist before the transfer window shuts.

Recent reports highlight Aurelien Tchouameni from Real Madrid as the club’s top target. The French international, valued at around £68 million, is highly rated by United but securing his signature appears difficult due to his loyalty to Real Madrid and a new contract reportedly agreed with the Spanish club.

Tchouameni: The Ideal Candidate

Journalist Ben Jacobs places Tchouameni near the very top of Manchester United's midfield wishlist. The 26-year-old offers a blend of elite defensive skills, athleticism, composure on the ball, and valuable experience at the highest level. If he were available, he would be the perfect fit to complete the midfield rebuild.

"He is right near the top of the list," Jacobs said, emphasizing United’s admiration for the France international despite the low likelihood of a deal.

Other Midfield Options Under Consideration

If Tchouameni proves out of reach, United has several other players under consideration. Manu Kone of AS Roma ranks high on the list, with talks about personal terms reportedly underway, though formal negotiations between clubs are pending.

Alex Scott remains a priority target, even as AFC Bournemouth pushes to retain the England U21 talent. Brighton's Carlos Baleba also stays on the radar after impressing last season.

Additionally, Tyler Adams from Bournemouth brings Premier League experience and the defensive attributes desired by Michael Carrick.

Balancing Ambition with Reality

Among these names, Tchouameni stands out as the most complete midfielder, but his transfer seems unlikely. As a result, more attainable targets like Kone and Scott might become Manchester United’s final choices before the transfer window closes.
