The forward’s future at Barcelona remains unclear, with under a year left on his current deal. Meanwhile, Barcelona are actively pursuing a new centre-forward, showing strong interest in Julian Alvarez as a potential long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
Barcelona has already made an offer for Alvarez, but this pursuit casts doubt over Torres’s place in the squad. Last season, Torres had his best campaign yet at Barcelona, netting 16 league goals in 33 appearances, though only 23 of those were starts.
Liverpool Sees Opportunity With Forward Line Changes
According to L'Equipe, Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola views Torres as a valuable addition, especially after the departures and injuries affecting their attack. Mohamed Salah’s exit and Hugo Ekitike’s Achilles injury, which is expected to sideline him until 2027, have left gaps that Torres could fill.
Torres’s contract situation and his versatility across the front three make him an appealing option. The 26-year-old has scored 65 goals in 201 matches since moving to Barcelona from Manchester City in January 2022. Before that, he tallied 18 goals in 43 games during his time in English football with Manchester City.
Paris Saint-Germain is also reported to be interested, with former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique reportedly admiring Torres’s abilities.
