Barcelona Secures Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund on Five-Year Deal
Barcelona has finalized the transfer of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund. The attacker has committed to a five-year contract at Camp Nou, set to last until 2031.
The exact fee remains undisclosed officially, but sources such as ESPN report an initial payment near €22 million (£18.8 million), with potential add-ons reaching €7 million (£6 million). Additionally, Dortmund is expected to receive a share of any profit if Barcelona sells Adeyemi in the future.
Career Highlights and Previous Clubs
Adeyemi, 24, previously spent time in Bayern Munich's youth system before making his senior breakthrough at Red Bull Salzburg in 2018. At Salzburg, he tallied 33 goals and 24 assists over 94 appearances. He joined Dortmund in the summer of 2022, where he made 146 appearances across all competitions, scoring 36 goals and assisting 25 times.
The Germany international has participated in 48 Champions League matches, netting 16 goals and providing seven assists. His addition comes as Barcelona strengthens its attack alongside recent signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
"FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement for the transfer of forward Karim Adeyemi, who has signed a contract with the Catalans until 2031," the club announced.
The statement highlighted Adeyemi's versatility: able to play both wings or as a centre-forward, blending impressive speed with a strong left foot. It also noted his connection to current Barcelona coach Hansi Flick, who gave him his debut with the German national team during Adeyemi’s time at Salzburg.
Debut and Fitness Status
Adeyemi did not participate in the 2026 World Cup and arrives fit and ready. Although he may miss the upcoming pre-season friendly against CE Europa, he is expected to travel with the squad to England next week. A likely debut could come in the friendly versus Birmingham City on July 31.
His official competitive debut for Barcelona might be in La Liga’s opening fixture against Elche on August 23, marking a new chapter in his career at Camp Nou.
