Hull City Targets Six New Signings as Wahi Rejects Move

Hull City’s summer rebuild is accelerating, with the club weighing up as many as six further signings as they gear up for life back in the Premier League.

Club correspondent Barry Cooper reports that City’s move for Fiorentina defender Niccolo Fortini is already in motion, and the Italian could be just the first of a sizeable influx at the MKM Stadium. The Tigers want another goalkeeper, a midfielder, a winger and at least two forwards to arm Sergej Jakirovic with the depth he needs for the step up.

Fortini, currently on the books at Fiorentina, is the most advanced of those targets. Hull have, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, a “serious” interest in the defender and are in talks over a loan deal that would include an option to buy. Reports in Italy suggest an agreement is “close”, with Bournemouth also having tracked the player.

Attack, though, is where the recruitment drive really bites.

Wahi turns Hull down

Hull have been knocked back in a move for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Elye Wahi. The 23-year-old, who cost Frankfurt £25million when he arrived from Marseille in January 2025, has struggled to ignite in the Bundesliga, scoring just once in 25 appearances for The Eagles.

His loan spell at Nice last season told a different story. Nine goals in 19 Ligue 1 games helped the French side stay in the top flight and restored his reputation as a livewire forward. French outlet L’Equipe reports that Wahi now wants to return to Nice and is prioritising that option over approaches from Hull and Lazio.

Hull will have to look elsewhere for firepower.

Toure, Njinmah and a reshaped frontline

One of the names on their list is Norwich City’s Mohamed Toure. The Australia international has attracted interest from Hull as they explore ways to strengthen their forward line, with journalist Rudi Galetti reporting that Porto are also in the hunt for his signature.

Justin Njinmah is another attacking option under consideration. The Werder Bremen winger, 25, is being tracked by Hull, Fiorentina and Southampton, with Marseille also credited with an interest. No asking price has yet emerged, but the level of competition hints at a potentially expensive battle for his services.

Torino’s Marcus Holmgren Pedersen has also been identified as a key target. As reported by Barry Cooper, Hull have already seen a €5m (£4.3m) bid rejected for the Norway international, who impressed for his country at the World Cup earlier this summer. Torino have so far stood firm, but Hull’s intent is clear: they see the right-back as central to their Premier League plans.

Nakamura, Hernandez and a wider European trawl

The search for creativity out wide has taken Hull’s recruitment team deep into Europe.

From France, Foot Mercato claims that Reims winger Keito Nakamura and Deportivo La Coruna’s Yeremay Hernandez are both on City’s shortlist. The pair are said to be worth a combined £31m, underlining the scale of Hull’s ambition in the market.

Nakamura, already linked separately as a player of interest, has reportedly had contact made with his representatives by City. Hernandez, currently with Deportivo in La Liga, offers another exciting wide option as Hull weigh up how best to stretch Premier League defences.

Six new faces. Multiple countries. Competing bids and rejected offers. Hull’s recruitment drive is turning into a full-scale European sweep — and with the window ticking down, the question is no longer whether the Tigers will land their targets, but how radically this squad will look by the time the season kicks off.
