The Europa League may sit behind the Champions League in prestige, but it still delivers plenty of thrilling football throughout its season. Since a major format shift in 2024/25, where the traditional group stage was replaced by a League Phase, early matches have gained extra intensity.

European competition is a key target for many top clubs across the continent, offering substantial financial rewards based on how far teams progress. With the 2026/27 Europa League underway, here’s a breakdown of the prize money available at each stage, whether you’re a fan of Crystal Palace, Celtic, Juventus, or AC Milan.

Prize Money by Round in the 2026/27 Europa League

Teams’ earnings depend entirely on their progress through the tournament. From qualifying for the League Phase to winning the final, there are seven key stages with distinct payouts:

  • League Stage Qualification: Thirty-six teams make it to the League Phase, some automatically based on last season's domestic league finish, others through qualifiers. Each team earns €4.31 million (£3.7m / $5m) just for reaching this phase.
  • Match Bonuses: Teams receive €450,000 (£385k / $524k) for every win and €150,000 (£128.5k / $175k) for each draw in the League Phase.
  • Ranking Rewards: Teams finishing 1st to 8th get an extra €600,000 (£514k / $700k), while those ranked 9th to 16th earn €300,000 (£257k / $350k).
  • Play-off Round & Round of 16 Qualification: Twenty-four teams advance to the knockout rounds. All who reach this stage receive €300,000 (£257k / $350k). Winners of the play-offs collect an additional €1.75 million (£1.5m / $2m) for making the round of 16.
  • Quarter-finals: The eight quarter-finalists each secure €2.5 million (£2.1m / $3m), regardless of later outcomes.
  • Semi-finals: Reaching the last four brings a payout of €4.2 million (£3.6m / $4.9m).
  • Finalists: Teams that reach the final are awarded €7 million (£6m / $8.1m) simply for participating. The champion receives an extra €6 million (£5.1m / $6.9m) for lifting the trophy.
