Diogo Dalot Backs Gonçalo Ramos and Rafael Leao at Milan

Diogo Dalot knows what it means to arrive at Milan with questions swirling and expectations high. He did it himself as a loanee from Manchester United. Now, from a distance, he’s backing two of his Portugal teammates to thrive under the San Siro lights.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by MilanNews.it, the United full-back reserved strong praise for new Rossoneri striker Gonçalo Ramos and long-time Milan talisman Rafael Leao.

Dalot on Ramos: 'A fantastic signing'

Dalot did not hesitate when asked about Ramos.

"I think Gonçalo is a fantastic player to have in the team. The way he works, the way he trains, the way he behaves, the way he's always ready to help the team," he said, underlining the forward’s mentality as much as his talent.

"I believe he's been a fantastic signing for the club and I'm really happy he's had this opportunity, because it's a fantastic club. I think he'll really enjoy his time in Milan and I hope he can help the club achieve success and fight for every trophy this season."

For Dalot, who experienced the pressure and passion of San Siro first-hand, Ramos looks built for the stage: committed in training, selfless in matches, and tuned into the collective cause.

A different tone for Leao: admiration and a warning

When the conversation turned to Rafael Leao, Dalot’s words became more intimate. This was not just one professional talking about another. This was someone who has watched Leao grow up.

"I've known Leao since I was 15 and I've talked about him many times. He's a great person, a great human being with a big heart, as well as being a fantastic footballer," Dalot said.

"That's what makes him special, and I think Milan's fans recognise that too."

Leao’s future has been a constant talking point this summer, with the forward linked with a move away and Galatasaray among the clubs reportedly interested. Dalot’s response cut through the noise and went straight to the bond between player, fans and club.

"For all the years he's been there playing for the club, I think it's important for him to also feel that the fans like him and that the whole environment around him cares for him. And I think in recent years it's been a fantastic partnership."

Then came the hope, almost a plea, from someone who clearly believes Milan is the right place for Leao’s prime.

"So I really hope he can continue to be successful there, win more trophies, and be one of the best players the club has ever had."

From Manchester to Milan, Dalot’s message is clear: Ramos is ready to embrace the Rossoneri challenge, and Leao, in his eyes, still has the platform to become a modern great in red and black.
