Mensik said the courts were among the slowest he’d encountered this year, making it tough to finish points because his game relies on serve and heavy groundstrokes. He also criticized the balls used, calling them "not that good" and contributing to the sluggish pace.

"It was really tough for me to get used to it, to get the rhythm," Mensik explained. "The combination of the balls and the surface made it super slow."

Alcaraz shared a different perspective, saying he doesn’t mind slower courts given his serve isn’t the biggest. He reflected on how tennis has evolved, noting courts have generally slowed over time but suggested the balls were the bigger factor in play differences.

"I think it's not about the courts. It is about the balls," Alcaraz said. "The ball becomes super big and changes the game when they're new. We only play a few games with those balls, so adapting is key."

He urged officials to focus on selecting balls best suited for each court and tournament, emphasizing that this aspect deserves attention. Alcaraz admitted he’s doing his best to adjust quickly across various events.
