Arsenal Eye Move for PSG Winger Bradley Barcola
Arsenal are weighing up a move for PSG winger Bradley Barcola, with former striker Carlton Cole adamant the Frenchman is exactly the profile Mikel Arteta’s side should be chasing.
The 21-year-old wants out of Paris and PSG are ready to cash in at the right price as they reshape their squad. That stance has sparked a scramble across Europe, with Liverpool currently pushing hardest for his signature.
Arsenal lurking as Liverpool lead the chase
Liverpool have driven the talks so far and are viewed as the most advanced suitors. They have not, though, closed the deal. That hesitation keeps the door ajar for Arsenal as the window ticks towards its finale.
Inside the Emirates, the equation is clear. Arsenal’s interest could harden quickly if they manage to move on Gabriel Martinelli. Any sale of the Brazilian would leave a gap on the left of Arteta’s attack – and Barcola fits that lane perfectly.
A left-sided forward, Champions League pedigree, and the ability to stretch defences: the profile is tempting for a side already upgraded in attack this summer.
Barcola arrives with serious credentials. He has collected back-to-back Champions League titles with PSG, experience of the very highest level that Arsenal’s dressing room still lacks in key areas. For a club trying to turn title challenges into trophies, that matters.
Cole: “They need someone like that”
Speaking to the Metro, Cole underlined why he believes Arsenal cannot ignore this opportunity.
“Bruno Guimaraes has come in, he's a brilliant player, and I still think they probably want one more signing before the window shuts.
“I know they're still trying to do a little bit of business. I think they need another left-sided forward, they're obvious in the running to sign Barcola; they need someone like that.”
Cole’s message is blunt: Arsenal have done good business, but the squad still feels one attacking piece short, specifically on that left flank.
Space, money, and a narrow window
Arsenal have already been active in the market, but Barcola represents a different kind of addition – pace, one‑v‑one threat and the mentality of a player used to deep runs in Europe.
For any move to happen, two conditions look decisive. Arsenal must clear space in the squad, potentially via Martinelli’s departure, and they must meet PSG’s valuation before Liverpool close the deal.
Liverpool remain firmly in the race, but every day without an agreement keeps Arsenal alive in the conversation. If PSG get the green light to sell and Barcola does leave Paris before the window shuts, the question is simple: will Arsenal step in aggressively enough to steal a proven winner from under a rival’s nose?
