According to reports from The Sun, Mikel Arteta aims to bolster Arsenal's midfield this summer with Guimaraes as the top target. While Newcastle remains determined to keep hold of their key player, Arsenal appears ready to challenge that stance with an improved bid, marking what could be the club's biggest move this transfer window.

Guimaraes Pushes for Move to Emirates

Initial talks through intermediaries suggested Arsenal was willing to offer around £60 million, but the figure has now increased to £70 million. Guimaraes has communicated his wish to leave Newcastle and join Arsenal, which may speed up discussions in the coming days as the club pushes to finalize one of the summer’s major deals.

Other Transfer Activity at Arsenal

The start of the transfer window has been relatively slow for Arsenal, but they have completed a £34 million signing of winger Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge.
