Yves Bissouma Set for Ajax Move: New Chapter in Career

Yves Bissouma is closing in on a move to Ajax, with the former Tottenham midfielder set to sign an initial deal running until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old has been without a club since leaving Spurs in June, but is now poised to restart his career in the Netherlands. He is in Amsterdam to finalise the switch to the Eredivisie giants, who are expected to include an option to extend his contract by a further 12 months.

For Ajax, it is a chance to add experience and bite to their midfield. For Bissouma, it is a route back into elite European football after his time in north London fizzled out.

The Mali international joined Tottenham from Brighton in 2022 in a high-profile move and went on to make 111 appearances for the club. At his best, he brought energy, aggression and control to the heart of midfield, traits that once made him one of the most coveted holding players in the Premier League.

His Spurs spell, though, ended under a cloud. In August 2025, then manager Thomas Frank left Bissouma out of the squad for the Uefa Super Cup clash with Paris St-Germain, citing persistent lateness. It was a sharp public marker of how far his standing at the club had fallen.

Now comes a reset. A new league, a new dressing room, and a club with a long history of reviving careers. The question is simple: can Bissouma turn the clock back and dominate a midfield again in Amsterdam?
