Yves Bissouma Set for Ajax Move

Yves Bissouma is closing in on a move to Ajax, with the former Tottenham midfielder set to sign an initial deal running until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old, a free agent since leaving Spurs in June, is in Amsterdam to put the finishing touches on his return to top-level football in the Netherlands. The agreement includes an option for Ajax to extend his stay by a further 12 months.

For the Mali international, it marks a fresh chapter after a turbulent end to his time in north London. Bissouma joined Tottenham from Brighton in 2022 in a high-profile switch and went on to make 111 appearances for the club, anchoring midfield under a succession of managers.

His Spurs spell, though, fizzled out. In August 2025, then Tottenham boss Thomas Frank omitted him from the squad for the UEFA Super Cup clash with Paris St-Germain, citing persistent lateness. Bissouma never fully recovered his standing at the club after that decision and was released when his contract expired this summer.

Now Ajax, rebuilding and in need of experience in the centre of the pitch, are ready to hand him the platform to restart. The deal is short, the stakes are high, and Bissouma knows this could define the next phase of his career.
