Vinicius Jr Confident Real Madrid Will Claim 16th Champions League Title, Highlights Inter's Strength
Vinicius Jr, the Brazilian forward for Real Madrid, has declared that his team will win their 16th Champions League trophy this season. Despite recent exits in the knockout rounds, the winger is convinced the title will return to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Targeting the 16th European Crown
After last winning the Champions League in 2024, Real Madrid experienced consecutive quarter-final defeats to Arsenal and Bayern Munich. Vinicius spoke to the club’s official media, expressing strong belief in the squad’s potential.
“Hopefully the 16th will come. We’re ready for that. It’s our competition. We haven’t done well in it for the last two years. Our first objective is to finish among the top eight. We’re always excited about the Champions League. This season will be different from the last two campaigns and we’re going to win it.”
A Tactical Challenge Awaits Against Inter Milan
The campaign kicks off with a tough fixture at the Santiago Bernabeu against Italian champions Inter Milan. Vinicius, who has won all four of his previous Champions League encounters against Inter and contributed one assist, understands the challenge ahead.
He pointed out the defensive setup of Inter as a key obstacle:
“Inter are very physically strong. They defend with five at the back, which often causes us difficulties, but the manager has prepared us well. We have some absences, making things harder, but we’ll go out strongly and hopefully create a great connection with the fans.”

“We’re starting the season well despite the loss. We created many chances, and that’s what matters. We must stay focused on leading Real Madrid to the top, as always.”

Vinicius reflected on his growing importance at Madrid, having scored in two separate finals: against Liverpool in 2022 and Borussia Dortmund in 2024.
“Those are the most important goals of my life. Many players score, but few do so in finals. To do it for the biggest club in the world is unforgettable for both me and the fans. I never imagined scoring these goals or staying here for so many years. At 26, being one of the leaders at the world’s most important club means a lot to me and my family.”
