Tottenham Signs £75m Sávio from Manchester City

Tottenham have completed the signing of Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City, with the 22-year-old confirming he will be known as Sávio at his new club. Spurs have paid £75m for the wide forward, in a deal that could rise by a further £10m if performance-related add-ons are triggered.

The move marks another statement signing in a summer of heavy investment under Roberto De Zerbi. Sávio arrives billed as a winger who plays on the front foot and thrives in one‑v‑one situations, exactly the sort of profile the head coach has been pushing for.

“It’s taken a while but I’m very happy to be here,” Sávio said after the deal was announced. “It’s a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world.”

De Zerbi, who has been central to the club’s aggressive recruitment drive, made it clear why Spurs were prepared to go so high for a player still at the start of his career.

“Sávio is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions,” the Italian said. “He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity.”

Those are not throwaway words. Tottenham have spent the window arming De Zerbi with players who can tilt matches in an instant, and Sávio fits that brief. His arrival continues a trend of big-money deals designed to reshape the spine and the flanks of the squad.

The Manchester City connection may not end there. Another forward from the champions, Omar Marmoush, is also expected to join Spurs. If that transfer goes through at the mooted price bracket, he would become the club’s fifth £50m-plus signing of the summer, following Sávio, Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke.

Tottenham have not stopped at marquee fees. They have also moved smartly in defence, adding the experienced Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson on free transfers, bolstering depth and leadership at the back without denting the budget.

A rebuilt attack, a refreshed back line and a manager with a clear idea of how he wants his team to play. With Sávio now in the door and Marmoush expected to follow, Spurs are betting big that this is the summer that finally shifts their trajectory.
