Tottenham Rejects Shabab Al Ahli's Bid for Richarlison

Tottenham have blocked a late move from Shabab Al Ahli for Richarlison, leaving the Brazilian forward stuck in limbo in North London until at least January.

The UAE Pro League side, driven by coach Andre Jardine’s desire for a reunion with his former Olympic star, pushed to take Richarlison to the Middle East before their transfer window closes next week. The proposal, though, never convinced Spurs.

Club sources indicate Tottenham turned down the offer on the basis of the deal’s structure and terms, not because Richarlison was unwilling to go. The package on the table would have allowed the 29-year-old to move again in January, but Spurs saw little value in sanctioning a short-term exit that did not meet their requirements.

So the answer was no. Firmly.

Richarlison’s options close – for now

The decision ends a turbulent summer of uncertainty for the forward, whose future has been in play for months. Everton, Trabzonspor and Vasco da Gama all explored potential deals, only for each move to collapse before reaching the finish line.

Shabab Al Ahli then emerged as the latest escape route. Jardine was keen, Richarlison was open to the idea, and the UAE club believed they had a realistic shot of landing him. Tottenham’s refusal has shut that door.

The consequence is stark. Richarlison is not in Spurs’ Premier League squad, and unless something changes dramatically, he now faces the prospect of going three-and-a-half months without competitive first-team football.

For a Brazil international in his prime, that is a brutal scenario.

Spurs left with a decision to make

Tottenham must now manage a high-profile, high-earning forward who cannot feature in the league and whose situation remains unresolved until the winter window.

As it stands, Richarlison is under contract only until the end of the season, though Spurs do hold an option to extend his deal by a further 12 months. That clause gives the club leverage, but it does not solve the immediate problem: what to do with him between now and January.

Training ground presence. Cup minutes if possible. A player in limbo, but still on the books.

For now, the latest attempt to move Richarlison on has failed. He stays at Tottenham, his future still hanging in the balance as the clock ticks towards another transfer window and another round of questions.
