Serie A Transfer Window Review: Grades for Every Club

The transfer window in Italy slammed shut this week in a blur of last-minute calls, hurried signatures and nervous refreshes of club websites. When the dust settled, the real work began: judging who actually did well.

Assessing a Calciomercato is always a dangerous game. What looks like a masterstroke in September can resemble a costly mistake by Christmas. A signing hailed as a coup might never settle; a low-key arrival could become the heartbeat of a team. Even so, some clubs clearly handled the chaos with more composure and clarity than others in Serie A.

That’s the fascination of this league’s market. It lives on contradictions. A veteran with a big name can fade overnight, while a relatively unknown youngster might explode into stardom. Directors gamble, coaches insist, agents circle, and supporters cling to hope that this, finally, was the summer their club got it right.

Nobody can say for sure how these moves will look once the season grinds into winter and the pressure tightens. But the window has closed, the squads are set, and the talking has already started.

So, with all the usual caveats and the understanding that the pitch will deliver the final verdict, here are my marks out of 10 for every side preparing to fight it out in Serie A this season.
