Serhou Guirassy Celebrates 100 Games for Dortmund

Serhou Guirassy needed a moment for it to sink in.

"I'm very, very happy to have played a hundred games for Dortmund – I didn't even realize that," said the 30-year-old forward, still processing the milestone that has arrived at breakneck speed since his move from VfB Stuttgart in the summer of 2024.

One hundred competitive matches in just over two years. That number alone speaks to his durability. The goals complete the picture.

In the 3-2 home win over Villarreal CF, Guirassy struck twice, taking his tally in a BVB shirt to 64. Those were goals number 63 and 64 for the Black & Yellow, a return that underlines why he has become one of the most reliable finishers in Europe. He finds space, he hits cleanly, and he does it again and again.

Only one man has ever scored more in so few games for Dortmund: Erling Haaland. The Norwegian phenomenon plundered 86 goals in 89 competitive appearances, a benchmark that still towers over everyone at the club. Guirassy sits in rarefied company just behind him, his numbers already being mentioned in the same breath.

The comparison stretches into the club’s history books. Lothar Emmerich, a legend of an earlier era, also hit 64 goals in his first 100 Bundesliga matches for Borussia Dortmund. Guirassy has now matched that mark in all competitions across his first century of games, tying himself to a name etched deep into Dortmund folklore.

And in the Champions League, the hierarchy is just as exclusive. Only Marco Reus stands ahead of Guirassy in the club’s scoring charts in Europe’s elite competition, another sign of how quickly the striker has climbed the internal rankings.

He didn’t see the milestone coming. Defenders certainly do now.
