Sávio Joins Tottenham for £85 Million as De Zerbi's Rebuild Accelerates
Tottenham have landed Sávio from Manchester City in a deal worth up to £85 million, a statement signing that underlines the scale of their summer rebuild under Roberto De Zerbi.
Spurs have chased the Brazilian for a year, first making their move last summer and refusing to let the trail go cold. Now they finally have their man.
"It's taken a while but I'm very happy to be here," Sávio said after the move was confirmed. "It's a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world.
"As soon as I spoke to the head coach I knew I had to come. He told me he wants to help me reach the highest level, and I believe we can do that together, as a team."
A statement signing in a heavy-spending summer
The fee, which could rise to £85m, pushes Tottenham’s outlay past £300m this summer. It has been a window of aggressive change in north London.

Sávio arrives from Manchester City with a relatively modest record on paper: 53 appearances, two goals and 12 assists since joining from Troyes in 2024. Those numbers only tell part of the story.

The need for reinforcements in the forward line was laid bare in Tottenham’s Premier League opener against Brentford last weekend. With options thin, 19-year-old academy graduate Mikey Moore started on the right wing.
Moore’s promotion spoke well of the club’s academy, but it also exposed the lack of senior depth in attacking areas. Spurs looked short of experience and edge in the final third.
Sávio changes that picture immediately. He adds another senior option out wide, a player expected not just to support but to start, to carry responsibility in big games rather than merely pad out the bench.
