Sacha Boey Stays at Bayern Munich: Vincent Kompany's Clear Message

Vincent Kompany has drawn a line under Sacha Boey’s turbulent summer at Bayern Munich – and pulled the defender back into the fold.

The French right-back spent the window on the unofficial exit list as Bayern searched for a buyer. They pushed. The market didn’t bite. No offer matching the club’s demands arrived in time, and the clock finally ran out.

Now Boey stays. And Kompany is making it clear the page has turned.

“Now the transfer window is closed, and Sacha is part of our team and has our support,” the Bayern coach said at his press conference. The message was simple: the speculation is over, the work starts again.

Kompany didn’t sugarcoat the reality, though. Boey returns to a dressing room where his position is already crowded.

“My role now is that he performs. But the reality is we have Josip Stanišić and Konrad Laimer in the position, and competition is already fierce,” he admitted.

That is the challenge. Stanišić has momentum, Laimer is trusted, and Boey has to fight his way back into the picture at a club that openly tried to move him on.

So what does that look like for the player? Kompany boiled it down to attitude.

“So you need patience and hard work. But anything can happen in football if you have the right attitude,” he said, offering a clear route back rather than closing the door.

The Belgian stressed that, inside Säbener Straße, Boey is not being frozen out or sidelined in training.

“We're simply treating him with respect. He's training very well at the moment, and everything else will fall into place,” Kompany added.

Behind all this sits Bayern’s new sporting hierarchy, and Kompany was keen to underline how the club handled an uncomfortable situation. Working with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund, he said, has shown him a firm but transparent approach.

“What I've seen working with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund is that the club is clear and straightforward; also in dealings with players,” he explained.

That honesty can sting. Being told you’re no longer wanted at a club of Bayern’s stature cuts deep for any professional.

“It's not always pleasant for the player, but you also gain a lot of respect from the players when you speak to them clearly and honestly.”

The window is shut, the verdict is in: Sacha Boey stays. Now the only argument that counts will be the one he makes on the pitch.
