Real Madrid Secures Arda Güler's Future with Long-Term Contract
Real Madrid are moving to lock down one of their brightest jewels for the long haul – and they are not thinking small.
Spanish outlet AS first revealed on Thursday that talks over a new contract for Arda Güler had taken a major step forward. A few hours later, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano went further: according to his information, Real Madrid have fully agreed all details with the 21-year-old’s camp.
The new deal is expected to tie Güler to the Bernabéu until at least 2031. Romano even reports an agreement through 2032. That would put the Turkish international in rare company inside the dressing room. Only big-money summer signing Yan Diomande, who arrived for a hefty €125 million, is contracted for longer, with his deal stretching to 2033.
For Güler, the imminent signature is more than a formality. It’s a statement. It marks his definitive arrival among the club’s inner circle of untouchables.
When he joined from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023, his first contract was due to run until 2029. Back then, Real Madrid paid €28 million to prise him away from Istanbul. That figure already looks like a bargain. His market value has since rocketed to around €90 million, making the left-footer the most valuable Turkish footballer by some distance.
That rise is now set to be mirrored in his pay packet. Güler has reportedly been earning around €5 million per year, a salary that no longer reflects his role or status. The new agreement is expected to bring a significant upgrade, underlining how central the club see him to their future.
He has earned that faith on the pitch. Last season, Güler steadily forced his way into the team’s core. Across all competitions he delivered 20 goal involvements in 51 appearances, turning substitute cameos into starts and starts into influence. The numbers tell one story. The way he tilted games in Madrid’s favour told another.
This season, under new head coach Jose Mourinho, he has picked up exactly where he left off – and then some. Güler has started three of Real Madrid’s first four league matches and has produced a goal and an assist in each of those starts, a ruthless level of end product for a player still only 21.
Only a suspension, carried over from a red card in last season’s Champions League, kept him out of the 2-1 win against Inter Milan in Europe. He was ready. He simply wasn’t allowed on the pitch.
Real Madrid’s response has been clear: tie him down now, for as long as possible. In a squad packed with stars and constant pressure to refresh, Güler is no longer just a promising signing from Fenerbahce. He is part of the club’s long-term spine – and about to be paid, and protected, like it.
