Rafael Leão Addresses Transfer Rumors Amid Turkish Interest
Rafael Leão has had enough.
The Milan forward broke his silence on Instagram, firing a clear shot at the rumours swirling around his future and warning against “speculation and stories that aren’t true” as talk of a move away from San Siro refuses to die down.
The 27-year-old used an Instagram Story to draw a firm line. Alongside a photo of himself training in Rossoneri colours, he wrote that his “only thought is on the field” and that he is “concentrated on giving my best, every single game and every single training session.” The message was as much for fans as it was for intermediaries circling around his name.
Then came the real punch.
“Just to avoid any form of speculation and stories that aren’t true,” Leão continued, “I repeat that for some time I’ve assigned all my interests exclusively to my family and my lawyers. Nobody else is authorised to speak for me. My mind is on the next objectives.”
With that, he effectively shut the door on agents and brokers claiming to represent him in talks with other clubs, a not-so-subtle response to the noise coming out of Turkey.
Turkish interest grows, Milan stand their ground
Leão’s intervention lands at a delicate moment. Galatasaray have been heavily linked with a move for the former Lille winger, with Fenerbahce and Besiktas also credited with interest as the Super Lig circles a player who once looked destined for another of Europe’s top five leagues.
At the end of last season, Leão had hinted that his cycle in Milan might be nearing its end, opening the door to the idea of a “fresh challenge.” That leap has not arrived. No Premier League or La Liga giant has yet put the kind of offer on the table that would drag him out of Serie A.
Turkey, then, has emerged as the most concrete route out.
Milan, though, are not blinking. Reports suggest Galatasaray have already tested the waters with a proposal in the region of €35 million. The response from Milan? A firm no. The Rossoneri are understood to be holding out for a total package of at least €60 million, bonuses included, before they will even consider signing off on a sale.
It is a classic standoff: a club protecting a key asset, suitors trying to exploit an opening, and a player trying to reclaim control of his own story.
Contract security, simmering tension
Leão’s contract adds another layer to the drama. He is tied to Milan until June 2028, a long-term deal that hands the club serious leverage. There is no ticking clock forcing a quick decision, no looming free agency to panic the boardroom.
That security cuts both ways.
On one side, Milan can afford to be patient, to wait for the right offer or keep a player who remains one of their most dangerous attacking weapons. On the other, the club have shown no rush to revisit or extend that agreement, even as whispers of discontent and a possible new chapter for Leão refuse to fade.
So the situation sits in an uneasy balance: a player who has previously spoken about a new challenge, a club that will sell at the right price, and a transfer market that has yet to deliver the move he once seemed destined to make.
For now, Leão insists his head is on the pitch, his voice channelled only through his family and lawyers. The rest is noise.
