Player Ratings: Palace vs Manchester City

Dean Henderson – 7
No chance with either of Manchester City’s goals, but this was a reminder of his class. Denied Anderson with a sharp early stop and then stood up well to efforts from Semenyo and Cherki. Without him, the scoreline looks ugly.

Jaydee Convot – 6
Kept things tidy on his flank and rarely put a foot wrong, yet ultimately found himself exposed once Cherki hit full stride. Effort was there, answers were not.

Chris Richards – 6
Relished the physical duel with Haaland, but there was only going to be one winner over 90 minutes. Should have buried a free header in the first half, a big moment that slipped away.

Takehiro Tomiyasu – 6
Exactly what Palace thought they were getting: calm, solid, experienced. Read danger well and rarely panicked, though even his composure couldn’t stem the late tide.

Anan Khalaili – 6
Ran hard, pressed with intent and never hid from the ball. The problem came in the final third, where the energy fizzled into half-chances and loose touches.

Daichi Kamada – 5
Covered ground and kept showing, but struggled to put his stamp on the contest. City’s midfield traffic swirled around him and he never quite found the rhythm or angles to dictate.

Adam Wharton – 7
The standout outfield player for Palace. Passed with authority, saw pictures early and kept threading brave balls between the lines. At the heart of everything positive before City’s pressure finally smothered him like the rest.

Tyrick Mitchell – 6
Snapped into tackles and used his pace well defensively, yet his big moment came at the other end. Rose well to meet a first-half cross but headed wide when he had to hit the target.

Eddie Nketiah – 5
Started brightly, stinging Donnarumma’s palms and buzzing across the front line. Then the spark dimmed. Spurned a huge opening early in the second half and never really recovered his edge.

Yeremy Pino – 6
Erratic at times, dangerous at others. Carried a threat whenever he squared up his man and delivered the set piece that forced Donnarumma into the own goal, a wicked free-kick that deserved more credit.

Jorgen Strand Larsen – 5
Worked the channels and battled, but Dias dominated him physically. Had one clear sight of goal before the break and let it pass, a miss that summed up his night.

• Guessand (on 63, Strand Larsen) – Injected fresh legs up top but couldn’t unsettle City’s back line.
• Gozo (on 68, Pino) – Tried to carry the ball forward, found little space to run into.
• McNeil (on 68, Nketiah) – Offered a different angle from wide areas without producing the telling delivery.
• Disasi (on 74, Tomiyasu) – Added height and muscle as Palace tried to hold firm late on.
• Mingueza (on 74, Khalaili) – Slotted in and kept things simple with the game already drifting away.
