For Fatih Terim, that decision has shaken Turkish football to its core.
The iconic coach has hailed Salah’s arrival at Trabzonspor as “one of the most important transfers in the history of the Turkish league,” a statement that lands with extra weight in a week when Papara Park stages one of the season’s fiercest fixtures: Trabzonspor vs Galatasaray in the sixth round of the Trendyol Super League.
A blockbuster transfer, a statement of intent

Into that tension steps Salah, the man Terim describes as “indispensable.”
Speaking to Turkish outlet 61saat, the former Galatasaray and Turkey boss underlined just how unlikely this move once seemed.
“We are talking about a player who has been at the highest level for years with Liverpool, and has won everything. The Europa League, the Champions League, and Club World Cups. He is a player who is indispensable,” Terim said, laying out the scale of the coup.
Any club, anywhere, would have taken him. That was his point.
“Any club in the world would wish to sign him,” he added. “Clubs from the Emirates and Saudi Arabia are ready to pay enormous sums for him, not to mention the giants of the Spanish, Italian and English leagues. But in the end he chose Trabzonspor, and this in itself is a great achievement.”
The money from the Gulf was on the table. So were the bright lights of La Liga, Serie A and the Premier League. Salah walked past them all and headed for the Black Sea.
Terim’s salute to Trabzonspor’s hierarchy
Terim didn’t stop at praising the player. He turned the spotlight onto the club’s leadership, singling out president Ertuğrul Doğan and his board for what he framed as a historic success.
“President Ertuğrul Doğan and his administration deserve every appreciation and congratulation. Bringing in a player of this world-class value is not an easy matter at all, as he is able to go anywhere he wants. What happened is a momentous thing and deserves praise.”
In a league where holding onto top talent is often a struggle, convincing a global star in his prime to come in feels like a power shift. Or at the very least, a warning shot.

The fanfare would ring hollow if Salah had stumbled out of the blocks. He hasn’t.
The Egyptian has detonated into the Trendyol Super League, already establishing himself as the competition’s standout name. Four goals and one assist in just five matches have turned him into the central figure of the campaign almost overnight.
