Mohamed Salah Shines in Trabzonspor Victory Over Basaksehir

Mohamed Salah needed just one start to announce himself in the Super Lig.

On his full debut for Trabzonspor, the former Liverpool star struck twice in a 2-1 win over Istanbul Basaksehir, delivering exactly the kind of cutting edge the club hoped for when he signed a two-year deal at the start of August.

He had been eased in with a cameo from the bench in last week’s 1-1 draw at Kasimpasa. This time he was on from the first whistle – and it showed almost immediately.

Eight minutes in, Salah opened his Trabzonspor account, finishing clinically to give the hosts an early lead and jolt the game into life.

Basaksehir hit back. In the 19th minute, Eldor Shomurodov stepped up to the spot and coolly converted his penalty, dragging the visitors level and briefly silencing the home crowd.

The reset didn’t last long.

Three minutes into the second half, Salah struck again, restoring Trabzonspor’s advantage with his second of the night and underlining his status as the difference-maker.

That brace proved decisive. Basaksehir pushed, but Trabzonspor held firm, riding out the pressure to secure all three points and bank their first league win with their new talisman leading the line.

Next up, Trabzonspor return to Super Lig duty on August 31, when they face Amed SK – with Salah already looking like the man their season will revolve around.
