Manchester United Firm on Bruno Fernandes Transfer Stance

Manchester United have drawn a thick red line through Bruno Fernandes’ name on the transfer market – and they are not budging.

Senior figures at Old Trafford have made it clear they will reject any offer for their captain before next month’s transfer deadline, shutting the door on interest from Galatasaray, Juventus and AC Milan.

United shut down Galatasaray move

Galatasaray were understood to be preparing a proposal that could have climbed to a total fee of 50m euros (£42.7m). On paper, it looked like the kind of serious offer that might at least start a conversation.

United’s response? Don’t bother.

The message from inside the club is blunt: any approach from the Turkish champions would be a waste of time. For all the background noise from Italy and Turkey about testing United’s resolve, the club’s stance is that Fernandes is simply not for sale.

That hard line marks a sharp contrast with last summer. Back then, United left the decision largely in Fernandes’ hands when Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal arrived with a huge offer. The Portuguese playmaker later admitted he felt “hurt” by the way that situation was handled.

This time, there is no ambiguity. United have taken control of the narrative.

Contract clock ticking – but no panic at Old Trafford

Fernandes, 31, has one year left on his current deal, with an option for a further season. Talks over a longer extension have yet to produce an agreement, and a £57m release clause in his contract has now expired.

On paper, that might sound like the kind of scenario that invites speculation. In reality, club sources insist there have been no bids and repeat that he is not available at any price.

United believe they hold a strong hand. Fernandes is known to prefer staying, and the club no longer face the ticking time bomb of an active release clause. Any future move would be entirely on their terms.

The fans have spoken

If the board needed any reminder of what Fernandes means to the fanbase, they got it in Dublin last week.

During the pre-season game against Leeds, the reception for the captain was raucous, a clear show of affection for the man who has become the team’s creative heartbeat. Inside Old Trafford, there is an awareness that allowing any doubt over his future to linger would go down badly in the stands.

United know they cannot be seen to do anything other than fight to keep their talisman.

Record-breaker at the peak of his powers

Fernandes is not just a symbol, he is a numbers machine. Last season he set a Premier League record with 21 assists, underlining his status as one of the most decisive players in the division.

Next week in Manchester, he is widely expected to be named PFA Player of the Year for 2025-26, a personal accolade that would only harden United’s resolve to keep him at the centre of their project.

Clubs across Europe may circle and calculate, but the message from Old Trafford is stark: Bruno Fernandes is going nowhere.
